I’ve been around the block a couple of times. I’ve been a medic in the military, a counselor in the Psychiatric/Security unit of a prison for women, and a private investigator specializing in criminal defense. I’ve picked up a few degrees and taught various courses in criminology and sociology at The American University in Washington, D.C. and at Fordham University in New York City. Now I’m primarily a writer and photographer.
I’m the managing editor of Utata.org–an international collective of photographers engaged in a variety of ongoing projects. I teach advanced workshops in Mystery Writing for the Gotham Writers’ Workshop.
Like I said, I’ve been around the block a couple of times. It’s a good block; I expect I’ll keep going around it for a while.

Nice photo log of your ride. The mist and fog and the fall colors put me in the mood for the setting of my fantasy series. Reminds me of my three years in central Virginia…

Hey Greg — Just discovered your blog. And I’ve posted to Utata’s flickr group a few times (though not under the pseudonym). So I’m now your admirer twice over. Love the banner shot, BTW.

Keep up the good work. Creativity in all work brings work to life.

I like the juxtaposition of such a danger-filled resume with the fluffy Hippie look you’ve settled into, glasses askew. It’s comforting and unnerving all at once, prefect camo for the smart writer in the field.

Hello Greg. I’m familiar with your work as editor at Utata and was wondering what Erevan happened to Sunday Salon? Also is Catherine Jamison still around?
Thanks much,
Dominic

Hey Dominic. The Sunday Salons are pretty time-consuming; there’s a lot of research to be done, in addition to the writing itself. I just haven’t had (or been willing to devote) the time to do them recently.
Catherine sort of disappeared from view when she moved to Nova Scotia. She hasn’t been involved in Utata for three or four years now. I’m assuming she’s doing something creative and interesting and some day we’ll hear from her again.

Thanks for the info Greg. I remember at one time Catherine had some health issues. Very happy to hear she is well and just took a vacation from Flickr and Utata.
Cheers,
Dominic

So curious as to where you found the photo of the Four Mile wreck near Altoona–the Iowa Historical Society in Des Moines? I’m writing a book and would like permission to use the original but don’t know where it might be found. Thanks.

I found your entry about the Fearless Girl statue. Really liked it. How do I follow your blog?

Yes me too! Love the nuanced points. I’d like to subscribe but can’t see how?

Well, that’s embarrassing. I suck SO bad at self-promotion. I just realized I’ve never set up a follow button. That’s been corrected. Thanks for pointing that out.
